Finally! Fun at the running club!

There were just eight of us for the beginners club long run this morning and they were a great bunch. We did four miles of run walk (5 min run, 2 min walk) which fits in with my schedule and I was able to carry on conversations and get to know people and on top of that the weather was great and I discovered a new area of glorious Yorkshire. I felt so exhilarated when I finished that I got out of the car in the forest on the way home and ran another 4.5 K. Just for the hell of it. Am I losing the plot? Oops -just noticed my collapsing hip in the photo. Must do better ;-)

We did Rockette. And we even left some people trailing in our wake (not nice to gloat, but it felt good!)

I'm really glad things are working out for you on this running club lark now after an uncertain start. I could really do with some local company for either my running (when I can do it again) or my cycling as it's definitely getting pretty lonely out there right now. I'm just not good with new people and that always puts me off joining a local club.

Thanks Astilla. I too find getting to know new people hard, but discovered today that it's definitely worth persevering.Today wasn't an official running club meeting but a weekend run led by experienced members. There was none of the gung-ho warm-ups and rarara cheer-leading of ther Wednesday classes. I discovered that other people in the group had been put off by the male leaders who seemed bent on turning the running classes into a boot camp. There's nothing like discovering you're not alone in your discontent! I will carry on running with this bunch I think. We were all supportive of each other and there was certainly no elbowing out of the way!

That's a lovely post and lovely pic. Looks similar to where I live in Somerset. I definitely need to find a laid back running club.....
