Finding it difficult to fit in my run days.

I'm currently week 5 run 1. I'm starting to struggle to fit my runs in - I run in the mornings on days when I'm not working early, which varies from week to week. I'm due to do W5R2 tomorrow, but may not be able to run for a few days after Saturday. I did have a vague idea about doing W5R3 on Saturday, but given how it's a big step is it a crazy idea to run these two runs without a rest day (I don't want to injure myself). Am I better off leaving W5R3 until next week instead and just accepting it may take me a little longer?

Hi there. I know it's annoying to not be able to fit in a run, especially when you are doing so well on the programme and well motivated. But I wouldn't risk it. You don't want to injure yourself and end up not being able to run for weeks. I was forced to take extra rest days due to commitments etc and found the runs even easier after the longer rests. Take advantage of this. Think of the positives! Good luck and happy running... Whenever you decide to do it!

I agree, its not worth the risk. You can always look at some complimentary exercise on a consecutive day (I do yoga and ab work on days I don't run) that way you are still doing something and probably reducing the risk of injury in the long run (no pun intended!) :)

Thanks guys. As it turns out my W5R2 run this morning didnt go so well - managed the first 8 minutes but stopped in the second with about 3 minutes to go. Feeling a little disheartened. Think I'll give things a little break until next week and then try W5R2 again. You're right, it's not worth the risk of injury.

These runs are only short so I would have thought would be easily accommodated somewhere in your day. If you want to run you will find the time I'm sure

Good luck

I fit my day around my running. I run early mornings and have an early night before a run morning. You can do this x
