New trainers have saved my legs, guy in the running shop was horrified when he saw my old battered trainers I had done week 1 & 2 in. Week 3 Run 1 tiring, but battled through.

Well done on getting the first run of W3 under your belt. I'm sure you will be fine on these runs, I know week 3 is tough but you are also getting used to your new trainers. You might just have been going a tad faster in them as they are suited to your gait and going a tad faster is maybe why you struggled. You'll probably enjoy your running a lot more now you have the proper shoes for the job. Good luck on your next run and best wishes.
Well done Jol-Keen! I've just finished Wk3R1 as well and it was sooooo hard! I surprised myself with the first 3 min section but had to really slow down for the last. My calves were on fire! Determined to have my second run tomorrow. I've seen that a few people thought weeks 3 & 4 were quite tough so we're not alone!

Hi enjoy the trainers they do make a difference...
Week 3 I felt that I struggled and shortened the length of my stride slightly, I found that helped me although I guess I was then covering a shorter distance...lol.. I'm still using the shorter stride now on week 9 apart from the final downhill where I lengthen my stride slightly
but I try and keep my speed constant and not speed up until the last minute or so.
