Oh no! Help!

Did Week 9, Run 1 yesterday and was all excited but my ankle seems to have other ideas. It has suddenly become quite sore. Should I rest for two days and try and do a run on the next day? And how best to look after it?

HELP!

RICE will help - not the edible one, but rest, ice, compression (eg support bandage) and elevation. An extra rest day will always help, and perhaps use a support bandage when running next? If there is any swelling, Ibruprophen may help.

I found the other week that Ibufren tab worked really well. I also applied some Ibufren gel one night before bed and my ankle felt fine. I had a week end away sightseeing, so no running, but my ankle was really sore. The two days rest from running and the Ibufren did the trick

I was still walking round a city as a sightseering but the pain didn't worsen.

I think you'll be fine. If you're not after a day's rest, or two, then you'll have to carry on with ICE. If you've crocked the ankle it will be searing pain. "Sore" sounds more promising

Good luck

And after you've rested, try one of those elasticated ankle supports, got mine from boots
