Well, i've not been so conscientious this week, since parkrun on Saturday(my first off road run) my calves have been really stiff so though i was planning my usual Tues/Thurs/Saturday runs it didn't happen yesterday...a long day at work and relatives visiting meant George didn't get his doggy walk til 7pm and after that i couldn't muster up enthusiasm as just wanted my tea!
Today i have a later start, so walked dog early and then set off to seafront, took the car and parked on top road by cliff path as have a feeling the council car parking fees have kicked in again after the winter and always feel hard done by when i have to feed the meter!
So down Littlestairs steps, along to the pier , round the lampost marker and back past the stairs to the end, touch the gate and back to the beginning(with a mini speed up at the end!) was raining quite hard by then so a bit soggy! . This came in at just under 5k but i did do 30 mins ish run, so felt justified to stop! i seems to have a fairly steady rate now of between 6.5 -7 mins per km so quite pleased with that, i've done a spreadsheet so i can see how i'm gradually improving!! huffed and puffed a bit then tackled the steps back up. Counted as i went and it was 92 mainly steep steps, thats got to be good for my stamina?! Hard work though. I used to live nearly opposite this route when my old dog was a pup nearly 20 yrs ago so it holds good memories for me..... Aah i do still miss my Ruffdog. Have posted a jolly picture of him, which i particularly love and have a large copy of in my lounge, any dog lovers will appreciate it i hope... oops going slightly off course!! Oh well
Off for coffee and toast now ...
Happy running everyone...

Ah lovely dog there Ali, and we carry on loving them long after they're gone don't we. So we should! You have your little terrier now and you're gonna have some real good times together. I was dog walking this morning too. Just got back and having a cuppa while the dog has a snooze. I wore my Garmin too. Might as well ey.
yes George is a good boy, he is settling down well! didn't like the lollipop man today on our walk! he'll calm down. I have that picture on my screen saver at work! Garmins are great Nice to hear from you, hope you're doing well still, thought up your new name yet?!
Hi Ali, lovely picture! Pleased your runs are going well and yes the steps must be helping! I took to the flat river run yesterday and did a new PB! Brilliant. Its great to see progress, I keep on looking at my stats on Garminconnect and love to see that the overall trend is improvement. Sometimes I just sit and look at it all and don't even know why or what I'm even looking at but heyho its good fun. My husband always comes in and says 'are you garmining again?' Lol , he's created a new verb!. Happy running. x
YAY new PB- well done to you! my boyfriend always says i'm addicted to this forum, but its the only social network thing i do! and he does facebook so he can't complain! I use Strava for my garmin data he says its easier to use, think he just wants me to look at his cycle rides on there! Happy running to you too
Yes this is the only social network thing for me, I don't have facebook so I am pleased people still use this forum it has helped me so much. You'll be cycling next will you! x
Nah nor me. I look at Garmin but I don't understand much of it
PB!!!!!! Well done!!! Wowzers. Pat on the back there No-ex
I am on here for a few mins and then off to run. Horribly murky, wet day here but hey that's good for us runners int it? Hope so as I think I might do a 10 k this morning. She says dashing off those words like it's a cinch. LOL
you're doing so well with those 10 ks! hope the weather cheers up !
Lovely photo and can understand why you still miss your dog. I had to have my old boy put to sleep at end of last November due to severe arthritis - legs could barely support him anymore - and I still miss him even though I do have another dog now. Enjoy your runs, it looks a lovely part of the world. Best wishes.
thanks fitmo, sorry about your dog. i also have a new dog(6 weeks now) and he is lovely too but i had ruffdog for 17 yrs and he was my best pal its a great view of i.o.w coastline up there that picture always makes me smile hope you have good runs this week...m
