Forced myself out of bed yesterday morning when it wasn't quite light for W9R2 but when I heard the rain pounding on the roof I'm afraid I went back to bed. A wimp I know but the extra half an hour doze was very welcome However, pushed my feet into my trainers this morning and took a circular route I've only attempted once before. That time was W7R1 which was my worst run of the programme so far. Today's run I think was the second worst. I really struggled with the last 10 mins in particular and was probably going slower than my usual walking speed at the end! The wind was really strong, I think I started out too fast, and the hill at about 20 mins in didn't help either - all in all a pretty exhausting experience.
However, there are some positives: I didn't give up and I went further than the last time I ran this route, managing to get all the way round door to door with the walks at the beginning and the end so psychologically that's a bit of a boost.
Looking forward (I think) to my graduation run (can't believe I just typed that!) which will be on Saturday, rain permitting!! I will go back to my old 'friendly' route which I feel quite nostalgic about now as it has been there throughout this amazing programme. So I will be able to greet the two horses on the way and way back (they hardly deign to acknowledge me!), and get to the 'milestone' of the motorway bridge where my peace is shattered by the noise and speed of the traffic below and then back again into the lush calm of the countryside with a better view of the wind turbines, dodging all the potholes I know so well and aiming for the farm with the barking dog which tells me I'm nearly home again - happy days
