I was up and dressed, ready in good time to go on my run when received some very bad news from the other side of the world. It made me feel horribly cold physically, upset and I had to be pushed outside by my husband. Go for a run, it will help you.
For once he was right. I went and did my usual Stamina through the park, followed by a do on the outdoor gym. Normally I would then run home to one or other of the 5K+ pod casts but today was a grumpy, humpy drag through town back home. Horrible day.
BUT, the running did help me and I have not spent the afternoon crying.
It's going to take a lot more sessions to get this one out of my mind! Anyway
HAPPY RUNNING EVERYONE!

Oh Beek! So sorry to hear you have had bad news. Your husband was right though, running is somehow very healing and gives you precious time to think things over - or not think at all.
Chin up. Hope you begin to feel better soon. Big hug
So sorry to hear about your bad news It's even worse when you so far away and can't pop round to see people involved It just makes you feel even more helpless. Sounds like you have lovely husband who understands how much running can help you . It's easy for people to say not to worry about things you can't change but you just have to try and be strong and deal with it in your own way . Running will give you 'you time' to get your thoughts in order. Sending you big hug
Sending you a hug. Running may not seem practical, but it is a great way to get some you time to help process the emotions you must be going through. Hoping everything will be ok. X
Hi Beek, sorry to hear you had bad news. Well done for going out and getting some air and some brain space. Sounds like your husband knows you well and is kind to you, tell him to throw in some hugs from this forum for you! :o)
Well done Beek - sounds like you have a lovely and supportive husband - who knew what you needed. And like everyone here there have been low points when the running has helped process the emotion. Solidarity in the running- as has been said - time is a great healer ....
Well done for getting out there when you were feeling so low. The way I used to think of bad news was that you can't control everything in life - it just happens. So you just have to work round it and find ways of dealing with it. Running is a good way of mulling things over. I hope things look up for you soon. Sorry you'e been so upset.
Oh my goodness! What a lovely bunch of people you all are. I have only just got up, feeling guilty at not running today as I had planned. And to open up my computer and find all these very kind replies of encouragement. Sincere thank you to all of you. Please excuse me replying this way and not answering each of you individually. That is the most special thing about this web site - the feeling that I am not entirely alone helps hugely.
I was planning before I went to sleep that I would get up and do my new 9K up-the-gentle-hill run. I'm afraid I've blown it now though and will do it in the morning. I am going to do a Parkrun in Harrogate on Saturday and give it a really good go!
Hope you are all managing to make good use of this great running weather. HAPPY RUNNING
