Not fast - 40 minutes, but it's still 5k
Just ran my first 5k!: Not fast - 40 minutes... - Couch to 5K
Just ran my first 5k!
Congratulations, what a great achievement, you must be very proud of yourself It is a 5k that's what matters.
A 5k is a 5k - well done RobA.
well done!!! I'm doing a Sport Relief one on March 23rd and am actually quite excited, which is bizarre as a complete non runner 8 weeks ago! Bring on week 9!
Time is irrelevant; distance is, and you have done 5K. Conrtaulations!
It beats sitting on the couch. Well done.
I think that's a pretty great time - congratulations
Congratulations
Congratulations. we all start slow. at least you out there running! Good luck, only now the fun begins.
Now now, my first 5k was 44 mins, so good going! amazing to get the first one under your belt, well done!
well done...don't ever start comparing or going all silly on times...its about you, your personal goals and the passion for your running....
That's a great achievement. You must feel really chuffed. Well done.
That is a really significant milestone - well done to you :-).
well done - I took 42 mins for mine and was pleased with that . Its really not the speed that matters.
Nice job! You DID it...that's the achievement. I'm attempting my first on Sunday...somewhat apprehensive.
Well done - at least you can say that you've run 5k.
I completed the programme two Saturday's ago by running a parkrun for my week 9 run 3. I did it in 36.22 and although I was chuffed to bits I was a little disappointed in the time as I thought I was running a bit quicker.
Anyway, I downloaded the c25k+ pod casts and did the stepping stone run last Monday, the speed podcast on Wednesday followed by the stamina podcast on Thursday and on Saturday I went to the parkrun thinking I was going to better the time by at least a couple of minutes.
I managed to complete it again, but I found it really hard going - especially the last third which felt never ending as it was straight into a strengthening wind. It felt as though I was just running out of gas and in hindsight I think that I had just done too much for my 59 year- 2 stone overweight - ex couch potato body to take.
And, guess what my time was - 36.23!
So, this week I've decided to take it a bit easier and I'll go out a couple of times - with at least one or two rest days between each sessions - and I'll see where it takes me.
I'd love to run 5k in 30 minutes but if it doesn't happen it's not the end of the world. If anybody had told me I'd be running in a parkrun just a few months ago I'd have laughed out aloud.
Once again, well done for completing the programme and many congratulations for running 5k and I wish you every success in the future.
