Parkrun - 5km in 22:54 - 10 seconds faster than last week

Hi all,

It was a busy week at work so I was only able to run twice since last Saturday. I ran 11km on Sunday and a gentle 5km on Thursday.

My aim for today's Parkrun was to match last week but I managed to ran 10 seconds faster and finish in 22:54, it is still 40 seconds off my PB but I am moving in the right direction. I managed a sprint finish (Garmin says the last 50m was at 3:45min/km pace) because I was overtaken by a 15 year old right at the end and I tried to keep up with him. I wasnt successful but he probably helped me shave a few seconds off my time. I said hi to him afterwards and he told me he was running for the first time in 5 months and came along because his dad bought him.

Anyway my plan to get back to PB time involves slowly increasing my long runs up to 15km and eventually being able to run a HM distance once every 4-6 weeks. As the days get longer I will then start my interval sessions again. Hopefully this will get me back to the low 22 min 5kms.

Happy running all and here is a link to my Parkrun:

Wow. It was my first Parkrun today. You'd be one of those running past me and disappearing into the distance! Fantastic time, well done you :-)

Well done Aftabs - nice progress.

Think some of us are finding it difficult to run regularly during the week - look forward to some lighter evenings.
