Just finished my W6R3 last night. 25 minutes was tough but managed it OK. Bit disappointed that I only completed 4.05 K. Not too sure what I should be doing distance wise in that time . I suppose the goal for the full 5k is under 30 minutes, any ideas about what pace I should be running at - not bothered about breaking records but don't want to be too slow??
Week 6 run 3: Just finished my W6R3 last night... - Couch to 5K
Week 6 run 3
I've just completed the same run and only covered 3.7km so I'm just sitting down to figure out if I'm really slow not that I'm that bothered I just want to do the 30 mins as my primary goal. It would seem that to do the 5k in 30 mins your pace should be 6min/km. I reckon you are doing 6.17 min/km. I think. Well done.
Don't worry about your time at this stage - increasing speed is the next step. Use this time to fall into a comfortable regime and then concentrate on speeding up.
5k in 30 mins is 6mins/k, so you are not far off that pace. By the time you get to graduate you will probably be there, Chris. Us macho men do get hung up on the speed thing, but really, just achieving the 30 mins non stop running is your target. Well done on getting to this point and best wishes for the runs to come.
Thanks everyone for your replies. To be honest if I can run 30 minutes non stop then I will be happy, especially considering what my opinion to running was six weeks ago !! Got a new pair of trainers to break in now and am actually looking forward to my next run...who'd have thought !!
