W8R2- I loved this one- what a cracker! I'm nearly an off roader!

I had a brilliant time this morning! Decided to alter my route, I don't particularly like running on the paths near me as I am on a busy road and the lorries make it a bit dodgy. I have been alternating runs and going round the local park but that was becoming a bit tedious going round in circles so today I took myself off to the riverside park a short drive away. It was fantastic, there were muddy bits, puddly bits, boggy bits, but a fairly decent path going through it all. I found the last run pretty tough so thought a change of scenery would do me good. Admittedly it was nice and flat but the wind was blowing a bit and fortunately it stopped raining the minute I got out of the car, but it was sooo good! I loved jumping the puddles and being off road.

Something went wrong with my app so it was music free and I could hear all the birds. I ended up doing 4km in 35 mins which included the warm up walk so for me that's ok, I will work on speed later. I enjoyed it so much though, my breathing was better, my recovery was better and I can actually think of a time in the future when I may do a park run or even, dare I say it, graduate. I love this and cant believe I am here week8, when I think how I was in week1 .

Good stuff! Running offroad is brill I reckon. Distances seems so much shorter than running on roads. LOL

That's fantastic well done! I only ever run along our local canal as it is 20 miles long. I love itI passing ducks, swans, moorhens and the odd heron. The sheep have just lambed and are beautiful. Really takes your mind off the time always something to look at. Anybody visiting devon - the Grand Western Canal from Tiverton to Holcombe is fab! Keep running :)

Thanks Carole, it sounds like you have a beautiful place to run. I shall remember that if I am ever down that way. For now I will get to the riverside as often as I can, its just a shame its a car journey away, sometimes its nice to just get out the house and go without the driving x

I understand completely and know I am very lucky to have this on my doorstep. Never realised how much so until now. Hope you can visit and make many riverside runs but appreciate that you can put those trainers on and do the distance anywhere- good luck x

Oh, that does sound good. I tend to run on the road as I run in the evenings and I don't like to stray from bright lights and other people, but with the weekend coming up I may make the effort to get out somewhere a bit different and see if I can re-capture my mojo.
