I have just completed week 2 run 3.. The last run was the first time I really struggled with my lower leg muscles hurting.. Did anyone else find this and did it improve into week 3?

Hi Cath, I experienced aching lower leg muscles for a while but found doing some stretching after the run helped. There is some info on the NHS site showing you how.

Hi Cath1 10

from week 1 to week 4 I found my whole legs hurting. Each time I stepped it up I struggled with my leg strength. Three things helped me tremendously

1 started doing leg strengthening exercises

2 started doing core strength exercises

3 went to a sports physio who told me my hips were tight and out of kilter. Some simple stretching exercise loosened my hips and helped me run smoother

I found some good exercise for 1 and 2 at ptprograms.com.au. Its all free and some good workouts for legs and core

Remember no pain no gain (dont you just hate it when people say that)

Heading out for Wk 3 R1 this afternoon so I will definitely try more stretching then. Thankyou!

Great advice and good to know it's not just me feeling it! Will look at these stretches they sound like the way forward. I do look forward to the runs still even when my legs ache afterwards which is a good thing!
