The Love to run Valentines Quest is finishing this weekend.
I hope you have all managed to get something from it and even if it's not exactly where you wanted to be. The main point is we are all still here together. If you hit you quest well done and if you exceeded it, fantastic watch you go.
Please can you remember to list your furthest run over the last six weeks, so we can start our mammoth journey down the country. I will take one distance from everybody.
If you have been injured for the six weeks don't worry we still need you for the refreshment stops, so just let me know if your injured and your name will be put to help keep everybody hydrated on our virtual journey. That way you can still sign up for the quest ready for when you are fit enough to get out there again.
Looking forward to being a part of all your journeys.

I will start this one off this time. I have been a bit quiet this week getting everything ready for my op next Saturday. My running is going well I am back to running continuously which is a really nice feeling. I am working at upping my distances.
Pros:- feeling more positive about running than I have done for a long time
Cons:- still none with running. Got to say in life could do without the op.
I'm really pleased to have completed the quest and got back up to running 5K again,by increasing by 10% each week.I've managed to get out three times every week ( except last week when a combination of weather, illness and sheer laziness meant I dropped down to two).
I'm just back from today's run to Stamina podcast, which I also did on Wednesday and I did Speed on Tuesday, so that's three done and I might take the weekend off !
My longest run was 5.7km.
Good luck with your op next week Rfc....and best wishes for a speedy recovery x
The Valentine's Quest has flown by and I'm disappointed I didn't manage to complete the goals I set for myself. However, I'm hopeful my thigh injury will be better soon and I'll be able to get back on track.
Pros: Feel very proud to be a runner and enjoy being fitter.
Hi all. RfC hope all goes well with the op and you have a really speedy recovery.
I have been really enjoying my running these last few weeks. Have run 3 x a week all of January and 4 x a week these first two weeks in February.
Best thing for me is that I am at last starting to find running getting easier. My longest run this last quest was 5.94k ( have to be accurate wasn't quite 6). Looking forward to see our progress on the map
I've been a little bit twp & hit trouble by increasing speed & distance but having taken sage advice I'm back on track. I am over the moon at hitting 5K(.03)That is my longest run yet. Hubby came with me - he was walking so I was doubling back. I didn't think I'd like the company but I honestly think it was better because of the company. I hadn't realised that I was feeling vulnerable running on my own. Roll on the longer days.
Yes, I'm glad I signed up. It's a well designed little project, just the right sort of time frames and the significant calendar events make it meaningful. It definitely got me to do something I wanted to do, gave me that little added push, and I have completed a 5K run again after months of shorter runs. Not the 3x5K I had planned but I'm OK with that. I understand why I didn't achieve (or attempt) that many and I think it was a good call. I think it has had a knock-on effect too in that even when I have been out for a run when I wasn't going to attempt the 5K, I've really savoured it as worthwhile, and it has also given me a bit of a nudge on dog walks eg late this week rather than scrambling to achieve my running goal, I did a wonderful but steep walk in Thursday's sunshine, and thanks to all the running, it was achievable.
Thinking about what I am going to post as my Mothers' Day goal.
Hi RFC, my longest run was 5k, ankles a bit sore so i'm going to stick at this distance for a bit. Managed 2x 5k runs so far, living by the coast i have to admit the wind and rain has put me off a bit so not running as often as i would like just now but can't wait for the weather to improve. Good luck with your op, thanks for organising all this and keeping up the encouragement, it's really appreciated.
Well, I didn't make my goal, which was to get back up to 5k, mostly due to illness and bad weather, but that just means that I know what my goal is for the next Quest The annoying thing is that my longest run was 4.79km - so close! Never mind, the good thing is that I have plodded on and am still out there running. Thanks for organising this, and roll on the next one!
Hi. My longest run was 4.5k. I have been having some upper leg pain (either hip flexor or itb, or both) so have not been able to run anywhere near as much or as far as I wanted, sadly.
Looking forward to lighter evenings so I can run outside on weekdays - the treadmill just doesn't do it for me.
Hi Rfc, I'm afraid I have had to put my running on hold for the past few weeks as there is just not enough dry ground to run on round here. I'm itching to get out there again (it has to be out, not in on a treadmill) but I just have to be patient for now and thank my lucky stars that we are not flooded - so in a far better position than many. I love your John O'Groats to Lands End idea, my longest distance is a very slow 3.06k. Thanks so much for organising these quests and for helping to keep us all going. I hope it's not too long before you are able to get back out there too!
Hmm. Had to have a bit of a hunt for my goals for this quest:
I was aiming for 3 runs a week, weather and health permitting - including at least two 10k runs during the quest.
Good thing I put in the "health permitting" as I so didn't manage this. I only ran 7 times in the whole quest! I probably could have got back out there a bit quicker, but the motivation wasn't really there.
Pros: I ran 10km for the first time. (My longest distance was 10.27km)
Cons: Once I settle back on this couch it all gets a bit too comfy. And the Olympics aren't helping!
Thanks for organising this rfc, and best wishes for your op and a speedy recovery.
Must admit I've been a bit wimpy with this awful weather and haven't been out as much as I should, actually only once this last week! Luckily though, I've managed to reach or exceed my main goal of 7-8k minimum for most (not all!) runs I have dragged myself out for.
Anyway last week I managed my longest run to date of 13.1K which was rather a shock but has given me tons of confidence in my ability to run those longer distances in future.
Longest run in training during this quest was 10k and also managed all planned runs and finished with new pb at parkrun So well pleased Starting to think of goals for next quest Great idea Rfc Mums rock ! Thinking of you next sat
I only achieved 1 out of 3 goals. I did not manage to run 3 times each week mainly due to the awful weather, but I did get out as much as I could. Also did not stop the walking breaks. I'm still working on that. However I did get to the goal of 5K - and that has been my longest run on this quest.
All the best for the op and thanks for organizing these quests/goals.
I think my goal for this quest was just to try and get out running 3 times per week, as I wasn't at all well back at the start of it. I'm so pleased that I've managed to achieve that, and have even run 4 times a week this month. This week has been a very strange one, as I came back from a weekend away last week to immediately be struck down by a cold and an attack of 'the blues' (possibly SAD related, although I suffer from it much less now I run regularly). I hadn't run at all this week until Friday evening, as I just wasn't feeling it. Went for a long run on Friday (6.6K), a shorter run yesterday (2 miles) and two runs today - a 1.27 mile trail run in the woods earlier, and a 1 mile street run (new PB!) just now - managing my 4 runs for the week, when it had so recently looked doubtful I'd be running at all this week. These quests definitely provide an incentive to get out there.
My longest run of the quest was 8K (5 miles) on 27th January, which is my longest ever run to date, with Friday's 6.6K being my second longest. I'm hoping to work up to 10K this spring. I hope your op goes well Rfc. We will all be thinking of you and looking forward to hearing from you afterwards. xx
I agree the quests have definitely been an incentive to get out there, thank you for running them rfc and thank you for all that you do here - hoping you feel a whole lot better soon. x
My longest distance since the quest began was 6.35km.
My quest was about keeping on track with Jantastic which have have done - this week I came pretty close to blowing it. Didn't get out till Saturday meaning two runs today - my longer one this morning and then a quick 2k tonight to hit the Jantastic target. Extremely pleased that my eldest daughter (12) came out with me tonight for the first time! Fingers crossed she will come out again - her walking pace is as fast as my jog - And then when she ran she really pushed me hard! I also hit my target from months back which was 5k in 35mins - I've done it twice now and generally got that bit faster, so I feel a new speed target coming on!
Furthest run was 10k back in early Jan.
Sending my best wishes that all goes well with the op RFC xx
Hi rfc. Thank you for these quests. My longest run has been 8.5 k and I have been running at least 3 times a week. Because of the weather I have done some shorter runs than usual but at least I got out there. Off to consider my goals for the next quest now. Thank you.
