Hi judee welcome to the group , you will get all the help & encouragement on this forum they truly are a great bunch . Firstly rememember we have all started at the same level , you can complete the programme if you put your trust in it , listen to Laura and don't try & rush things . Take things nice & steady , at a pace you are comfortable with . Keep posting on here , stick with it . You will have good days you may have bad , but the sense of achievement you will have when you have completed your runs is amazing . Good luck with all your runs & keep posting

good luck and welcome....

I've just been around for 2 weeks and everyone has been great and shared some great tips and ideas.

Let us know what you are upto, and how its going

Well done for joining. You will get such a lot from the programme. I am 3.5 stone lighter than a year ago - mainly Slimming World, partly the running. Even though it's still hard, I just have the best sense of achievement. Never been a sporty type but at 59 just feel full of energy and loving life!

It's all there for you too. You've taken the first step - just go for it.

Hi and welcome. Fear not! You are not the first overweight person to find the programme - many, many are ahead of you and can now boast fitter, more slender bodies, and an ability to run for about 30 minutes non stop to distances near 5kms!!

However, finding us is not enough (you knew that anyway, eh?)

Now you must download the podcasts - to a phone or MP3 player. They are brilliant! You will be introduced to your running guide, Laura, who will gently coach you through the basics of getting off the couch and out onto the streets (or treadmill) to start your running.

Get yourself some comfy running clothing and head out! If you really think you might need to stop for food ... Think again! Lots of us run far better in the mornings 'on empty' before breakfast.

Once you embark on the programme, make a point to come back to the forum regularly. There's heaps of support here, and between us most people will be able to offer support and advice and congratulations as you work your way through the weeks. Look forward to your next post - after running! Lots of luck

I'm 56 and just graduated from the Couch25k run programme after losing 3 stone 10 lbs at WW classes. Once I'd lost some weight I felt like I needed to move more and the C25K was just the thing to get me running, having never run before in my life. I'm loving it. I did everything Laura told me to do and stuck with the podcasts, even the bad music! It's all worth it when you get to the finish line.

If you keep eating without exercising you won't lose weight. Running will definitely help you. The hardest thing is lacing up the trainers and heading out the door. Go for it!

Stick with this programme and you will be a compulsive runner, in just a few weeks. It works. It is brilliant.

Keep running, keep posting.

Welcome judee! You've done the hardest part - making the decision to get out there and do something positive for yourself. You'll get loads of encouragement from the mad bunch of people on this blog site. (You'll probably also get some eyebrow raising threads when we get really silly!) All strength to you in your endeavours. You'll soon start seeing results. You may not weigh less but you will find your clothes start fitting more comfily and your friends will comment on your new shape.

Enjoy the journey!

Go for it Judee, I've just graduated and changed shape but not lost much weight, but then I haven't really dieted. That comes for me in January, I needed to get fitter first. Download the podcasts, listen to Laura and keep posting on here. When the going gets tough laugh at yourself and ask for support and we'll be here. Good luck

Why not start today! It will only take very little time out of your day

Don't know if anyone else has suggested but see if you have a local overeaters anonymous chapter near by. Also, focusing on the compulsive eating and managing it first rather than weight loss at same time - because you are more likely to succeed

Hi! I'm new to this too! Because of my schedule I find it easier to run in the evening after work (and I mean straight after work before I even look at the sofa, otherwise I wouldn't move and sit watching tv and snacking!) I get in, get changed and head out for the run. I find that I feel better and don't slip automatically into bad habits once I get back. If running in the morning works out better for you then I read a tip somewhere about putting your running gear by your bed so that you see it as soon as you get up so that you teach your brain to associate the gear with the run which subsequently feels good and gets rewarded with that and a nice breakfast!
