Right! In these podcasts Laura suggests briefly to use your abs to keep you upright when running. I have to remind myself not to lean forward when running. Should I consciously be holding my abs in whilst running?

Thanks.

Well, it makes me wonder whether it's best to run the way that feels easiest!

Thank you!

I've watched other runners and some seem to run absolutely straight and others lean forward. Most kids seem to lean into their run too. I have no idea but decided to just go with what feels comfy. I do try and keep my head up though and gaze 10 paces in front cos that makes sense to look at where i am headed.

Would agree about keeping your head up! But, yes, I think I shall carry on sort of doing my own thing for a while without worrying too much, as long as it feels efficient and easy. Thanks!

The Chi Running book I read advised a slight forward lean but from the ankles not the waist. I think it's good to keep your core firm but holding the abs in might be difficult (for breathing). Personally I'd stick with what feels right if you haven't had injuries.

Thanks! That sounds like good advice. I'm intrigued by this 'Chi Running' book. A few people have mentioned it!

Here's a couple of links which might help:

This one has an illustration of the lean:

The book's an interesting read, although he is somewhat zealous.
