C25k+ podcasts

I’m a recent C25K graduate. I have tried the C25K+ Stepping stones podcast for the first time today. I found the pace really slow so it was much harder work than normal. So I must have very small strides! And also there was less than 30 minutes running. This felt like a backward step to me. Has anyone else had any experience, good or bad, with the podcasts? Or any other apps to use to keep up the motivation to run? Thanks🙂

I have referred to it lots over the last 10 weeks. It is extremely useful. I appreciate that running slowly has its benefits, clearly, however 150 bpm was just too slow for me unless I increased my stride length dramatically or bounced up and down more! I think my natural stride/pace is 165. I’m not a quick runner, just small strides. I will try the C35K stamina next time and see how I get on. Thanks for your reply.

You need to develop more than one pace.

I used that podcast this week with Laura which went up to 160bpm, that seemed quick to me and it was 30 mins of running, wonder if we’re using same one - maybe its me 😅

stepping stones is 30 mins, stamina is 35 so I assume you did the speed one which is only 16mins but is intended to be a much faster run than you are used to.

I have commented on this before that because these are done as bpm everyone is effected differently by them. I have long legs and a bigger stride ie my natural cadence is as low as 146 so the 165 the speed podcast reaches is very fast. With my 146 I will do 5k in around 31-32mins so a healthy average speed. At a 165 with the same stride length I'd be sub 25min, so I found I actually had to reduce my stride length to keep up lol.

You obviously are at the other end of the spectrum and it means as you have found these podcasts probably won't help you much.

Really worth doing... for all of us... misswobble is absolutely right:) I used Stepping Stones this morning after I read this post... just to remind myself how useful it is:)

Read the link given by IannodaTruffe ... the C25K+ podcasts are there to test us... the disciplines in running... not just the run.. but different ways of running... I hated Stepping Stones...( think soft shoe shuffle) but it taught me a lot :)

Not a backward step... a step up:) Try it again and then move on to the next ones :)

Do them! They are flipping fantastic. Slow runs build legs!

Anyway, only a bit of it is slow. Most if it will kick your ass I promise you 😁

Do them and then some more 💪😃👍🏃‍♀️ I do them all the time

You could, to break them up a bit, embark on our very own Ju-Ju’s 10 is the magic number programme 😃

Plenty to do but take care 😃👍

For me 150 bpm was impossibly slow unless I lengthened my stride dramatically. And then it felt completely unnatural. I was running about my normal pace for the last 5 mins (165). I am not a fast runner and can do 4.2 k in 30 minutes. I just think I have a small quick stride. I will not give up though and will try the Stamina one next and see how I get on. Thanks for your reply. 🏃‍♀️ 🏃‍♀️ 🏃‍♀️

A small stride is Good! You are running to her beat, not the speed of the music. I know it seems odd but you get the hang of it. The slow part is only a small bit of the programme so it doesn’t last long
