Finally 5 k!!!!!

Today was my 5th run since graduating and I went to a town park where one loop around is a mile. I did 3.2 miles - just a bit more than 5 k!! Started c25k at the end of June, had to stop for 3 weeks after week 4 due to really bad, weird knee pain (both). Got new shoes and no more knee pain. I turned 60 this summer and now can out run my 19 year old daughter. I hadn't been very active the past 3 years so I am feeling very happy ;^}

Brilliant! I can only hope to do that one day. Very close to graduating but still far from 5k!

Well done! :)

I graduated way back in the spring but have had a very intermittent year since then due to asthma and injury. I'm yet to manage 5k without a minute or two walk in the middle. But I shall not be deterred. After all, if you can do it at 60, I should be able to do it at a mere 49! Good luck with your running future, Sian

That is such a milestone. Well done. I know how frustrating it is to graduate on running time when the name of the program says I should be able to run 5k. I am just about there. I would be happy to run lots of laps in a park like that. Pavements around here don't have the same appeal - but are safer at night.

Well done. It's a great feeling being able to outrun teenagers isn't it! :)

Well done - its such a buzz. And what a beautiful place to run in! since graduating I've had a mixture of runs - doing 5 miles a few times, but sometimes only managing 1 or 2 miles... overall though I'm incredibly proud of myself doing this (at nearly 59 !) so, keep it up and enjoy !
