I have just finished the first session on week 1 (yay me!) but by the end of it my calves were burning and my feet were numb with pins and needles! Does anyone know why this is and whether I should bear the pain and keep going or whether I should get some other help?

Hi there and welcome to the forum.
It's possible that your feet are becoming numb because your circulation is being compromised by the laces and your new running activity!
Try typing 'how to lace running shoes' into Google and you'll find loads of articles about different lacing styles. ( I just tried and my favourite site is currently out of action but there are some film clips on You Tube and some pictures on: runnersworld.co.uk/shoes/ho... )
Shoes which are fine for normal walking often need to be adjusted to grip more or to allow more movement when surrounding a running foot. Hope this helps.
Happy running, cheers Linda
