Yay!!! I did it! First run was a pain in the butt, knee, hip....lol. My heart rate went up to 166....normally 160 is my max because my resting is down at 45! Really all very odd! But the next one was great, not too challenging. All the rest were ok too! Quite chuffed now! But...was so disappointed Laura didn't tell me to give myself a pat on the back!!!!

W2r1
Well done. I'm out for W2R1 tomorrow. But with week one I found the same thing, challenging first running interval but really got into the groove with 2nd/3rd intervals. Looking forward to hearing about your next run.
Well done Lippie! Glad you found it OK!
I felt much the same. Did W2R1 this afternoon and halfway through the first run, my legs felt like lead and I thought I was never going to make the full 30m. However, I think the knack is to simply focus on getting through each 90 second run a bit at a time. I couldn't quite believe I got to the end of the podcast and I have to say that none of this has been easy, but I got there.
Well done Tracey001! Yes, I tend to find the first runs the worst. I agree, too, with mentally breaking the runs into smaller chunks. I've been running on the paved paths in the park. I have been running the same stretch of path and then walking back on the grass to the 'start' ready for the next run. That way I can motivate myself as I pass the same landmarks ('nearly at the bend', 'just one more tree', etc) each time. I'll probably have to work out a new plan as the runs get longer though as the paths aren't long enough!
