In the words of dear Tommy Cooper "Just like that"!!!

Set out this morning to do a run which is familiar to me but wanted to change the last 1K so that I can link it up with another route I used to do 2 years ago. Well I only went and got myself a new all time PB for 5K, 5.01 in 31:33 just like that ;)

The first 1.5K is a steady climb (not steep) but it gets it out of the way. Then 2K is quite flat, pavements are not good in parts. Then I have 1K of down hill, wow, wind in my hair, sun shining through the trees and between the houses, bliss. But then I crossed Queens Rd, I usually run up it, which is a real slog, but this morning I ran across it and carried on down Anderson Drive which is the main dual carriageway around Aberdeen. The pavement was wonderful, no cracks, no driveways, no tree roots just sheer blissful running surface for about 600m, why had I not done this road before, duh!!

I got to the roundabout and knew I had a long uphill pull to get home, I checked my Garmin, crikey I could not believe what I was seeing 27.49 and 4.40 covered. What a shame I had run out of downs, it was going to take longer to finish 600m all up hill. So on I carried, in my haste to get closer to home I took a wrong turning and ended in a cul-de-sac, so doubled back out onto the main road, more up hill. The next turn was the one I was looking for which would lead to a small park I could cut through and home. A car came shooting out of its driveway and missed me by a whisker, had to stop, well she had no intentions of letting me across her driveway. Looked at my Garmin 5.01 in 31:33 so I pushed the stop button, that would do me for now, then I looked again. YES you little beauty, damn I'm a happy little bunny this morning :) YES, YES, YES, there's life in the old girl yet :)

Really well done and inspirational - maybe that 5k in 30 mins is achievable - certainly looks like it for you.I had written it off as a target - but maybe I should bring it back into view.

It was almost a week since my last run suzybenj, life just got in the way of my running all week, but it seems to have done me some good :)

Well done, Oldgirl, nothing like a smooth footpath to put you in a good running mood!

Congratulations Old Girl, you are an inspiration. That 30 minute 5k is definetly on the cards for you.

PS (Does JFF mean anything to you?)
