After not running since last Sunday i have completed week 2, run 4 almost finished me off though. I know that my legs are not very strong, and am thinking of my rest days doing squats to build them up. Any tips on what else i could do? Thanks everyone. x

Instead of squats, try crouching down and jump forward. Good for sprinters apparently.

But really I wouldn't worry about it, it'll come with time and the extra stress could lead to injury.

Cycling is a great way of building up leg strength, and a lot more interesting than squats etc! All assuming you have a bike though.

I bought one 2 weeks ago, its not a 'proper' bike though, i was never allowed a bike as there was too much traffic on the roads in the early 1970s!!! So not feeling confident on a 2-wheeler i have bought a viking folding trike. I should have done it years ago, its such a good bike, and me and the hubby rode 10.83 miles on Wednesday - shattered is an understatement. So i am building up by riding to work and back weather permitting. Thanks for replying.

I do pilates for building up strength in my muscles. For this I use youtube videos. If you search for "blogilates" on there, you will find a great channel with lots of strengthening exercises for all muscle groups.
