Week 1 Run 1 done

Thank you everyone for the advice on eating or not before early morning run. I did my first podcast on Monday. It was quite tiring and found it painful on my legs. Had rather a glow about me too! I plan to do the second one tomorrow - wish me luck!

I still remember week 1, it was so painful, especially my calves and feet. The pain will ease over the course of the next couple of weeks as your limbs get used to it. I found the pain completely went at the end of week 5 when the intervals stopped and the continuous running started, and now I have no pain at all and run for more than 30 mins. I could barely make the single minute during week 1!

Good luck! Slow and steady is good for tired legs. Or not-tired ones - it's a kind way to get them used to doing something strange and new! :)

Well done on completing your 1st run!!! Post exercise stretches are really important and I find the stretch routine on the Couch to 5k website are very good. For me the 1st week felt the hardest and I'm almost at the end of week 6 now. Good luck with the rest of the programme

good luck! I'm at the same stage as you. Just completed week 1 run 2, and even though it was only my second run, it definitely got easier!! Let me know how you get on!
