Well week 8 run 2 this evening and boy was it hard. My legs kept telling me ...stop please stop but I managed to plod on and finish .

Still don't understand why the first 5 minutes is always so hard . So nearly there so have to stay positive. xx

Well done, not long to go until you graduate now. Have you tried walking faster during the 5 minute warm up period? That might help with the first 5 mins of the run. I still find the first part harder than the rest but it has definitely got easier recently. You know that you can push through the first five minutes, get into your rhythm and then continue on to 28 mins. You'll find that as you do the longer runs you will be able to just keep plodding on after 28 mins and beyond and then 5k will be in sight! Good luck with the next few runs.

Hiya - well done -you're nearly there!

Personally I've been running about a year now, failed C25K at the first attempt (couldn't get past week 3) but started again in Jan and graduated April.

I'm now using stepping stones and have hit the magic 5K and am running because I can and because I love it BUT... that first 5 minutes are still hard and no rhythm and I still feel I could give up in the first 5 minutes - then I settle down and feel I could run forever

Maybe the 5 minute thing will never go away for some of us

Good luck with the rest of the plan!

Still waiting to really love it as at the moment just loving the final last minute but the sense of achievement keeps me going. I know I will love it someday x

Glad to read it is not just me that seems to be out of breath and negative so early into the run, I think it is getting the breathing right once one starts running, because it does seem to get easier further into the run. In the earlier weeks I really struggled with the breathing particularly in through the nose and out through the mouth as it felt like I could not get it in to my lungs at all. I still have to think about the breathing in but it has at least become easier.

Still cant get the breathing right so just do my own thing as struggle for breath the way Laura suggests.

Takes all my focus to put one foot in front of the other at the moment but things are getting easier and I definitely recover much quicker at the end of each run x
