Wk1 first run completed
Don't worry about finding it tough, I think we all did. The only thing that matters is, you did it. Good on you
Hi Mazzero, Well done for starting. Believe me the sense of achievement you will get in the weeks to come is unbelievable. I'm just about to do my last run of week 9 and i couldnt even run a few metres! Good Luck
I've recently started and found it tough going too. So don't worry about that - at least you are out there doing it.
Well done!
Well done! In a way, you've just completed the hardest run of the 9 weeks. The fact you've gone and done it and appear committed to the program means that within a short time you'll be a runner. You'll enjoy it. You;ll feel amazing. You will be fit and healthier.
And all in 9 weeks? What a bargain!!!!
Keep us informed of your progress.
Dan
Big congratulations. It is tough (I'm on week 2) but it's such a good feeling when you finish a run.
Yay,well done you have made a start. I felt exactly the same as you on week one. I am now on week three and have surprised myself....you will be amazed at what you can do in such a short time. Keep going ,we are all in the same position, all doubting our capabilities at times but trust in Laura and push through. Good luck .x
Hi, well done! It's amazing how much progress you will make in such a short time!
Well done for starting this! I started thinking I wouldn't be able to manage the first run and definitely not progress to the second week and now I'm just starting W5 and loving it! Still find it tough but the sense of achievement is great. Enjoy your next run
Well done Mazzero, you are now a runner! A fully paid-up member of the world of runners, and there are lots of us.
Don't try and go too fast or too far. Listen to Laura, but more importantly, listen to your body. If it hurts, stop, walk and then run again when you are ready. Before you know it you will be thinking that 'the time can't be up yet, I've barely started'.
Finally, remember that the rest days are just as important as the running days.
Congratulations on getting started. Don't worry, you WILL progress and probably a lot sooner than you realise. Enjoy the rest of your programme.
I feel as if I have more get up and go about me today. Everyone's comments and support have been so helpful. I wouldn't describe my 60 second bursts as running more of a little jogging. I will be careful though because I am 3 stone overweight and in my mid 60s. I have some fitness as I am a regular swimmer and practice yoga but havnt really done much cardio. My husband can walk as fast as I jog and to be honest it's reassuring to have him alongside. Would feel better if we had a defibrillator though.
Lol to the defibrillator! I imagine you won't get muscle pains/tiredness because of your swimming but will improve your cardio. You probably will be amazed at yourself by week2.
well done, you done the hardest part starting, It really isn't about going fast, (unless you want it to be ) I can easily walk faster than some of my runs, but its the fact you are running that's important. well done, keep up the blogs, let us know how you are doing
I completed my second run yesterday and feel great. I also did the suggested stretch routine straight after and my quads are not as sore. I think the breathing was better and bronchially things are getting looser Yes the running part isn't easy but what I can't get over is that I can't wait to get going again tomorrow. I looked at the stretch and flex podcast and will try these on my rest days. Went swimming this morning and did my usual 50 lengths which also seemed easier. I feel so motivated and just hope it lasts.
