First run completed

Finally took the plunge and completed week 1 stage 1 today. 59 years of age and quite daunted by the Programme! Any advice welcomed. It’s it easy to play music over the app as I worked silently today and would have welcomed a bit of chat or music

1) Imagine running behind a snail and you don't want to overtake it. 🐌

2) Start your music first, load the app and your music will keep playing in the background.

3) Good luck!

Hey I’m in my fifties too, and have just completed week 8. Don’t be daunted-you can do it. There is nobody more dubious that it would work than me, but hey it does!! Took my car for service today and ran home! Keep going you will succeed x

Congratulations on your first run, it’s the hardest. The advice l had was to jog slowly then slower again (snails pace) Lots of support & advice on here to help you through. Well done you for joining the team. Enjoy your journey 👍🏻

Try a podcast instead of the app. It has commentary / coaching with music. If you don't like the music you can always switch back to the app.

No advice here as I only started last week. Just wanted to say how encouraging it is to know that there are others also embarking on this journey.

Well done 1st one is the hardest - I second the slow and steady mantra - you'll be surprised how much you can adapt to those longer runs if you keep to the plan. Good luck x

I'm 58 and have just completed week 5, after taking very little exercise for years. It really does work, but don't worry if you have a bad run/s. You can always repeat a run or a whole week, as I did when I was ill for a couple of days. The hardest part is starting. Just keep going and good luck. X

I’m 61 and graduated last week much to my surprise - trust the programme, take it slow and steady - you can do this x

Just turned 58, started C25K in April not having run at all for donkeys years, graduated at the end of May, since got up to 10k a couple of times, have lost inches and weight (in conjunction with healthier eating) if I can do it, I am sure you can! The programme is fantastic in all sorts of ways, have fun!

I’m almost 58...doing wk3 run 3 today...looking at running 30 minutes is daunting at this point, so I just focus on one run at a time.

Well done on starting the programme - taking the first step is the hardest ! I agree taking it slow and steady is best. Each day you complete a run is such an achievement so be proud. I graduated a couple of weeks ago and will be 69 in December. Age doesn't come into the equation if it's something you really want to do (and enjoy).

Well done for starting the programme, you have achieved the most difficult part! I’m in my 50’s , never been a runner and had app downloaded for 6 months till I got off my backside!

I’m now on week 9 , 3 runs to graduation! If I can do it so can you! Keep going even when you want to stop however slow x
