I had to laugh at myself this morning, setting out for my run. I had to set the music going on my phone, then start Bridge to 10k, then Mapmyrun, then once I finished my warm-up walk, click the stop watch on my digital watch... a plethora of things that beep and talk while I huff and puff through my workout. Contrast that with the people I see at Parkrun on a Saturday who chip up wearing a tiny pair of running shorts, carrying nothing, and thunder around the course in under 20 minutes. I'm such an amateur...

Bristling with technology...
I with you all the way re technology. That is how I push myself - using the stats being fed back to me. Sometimes I do a techno-free run, but only sometime :-).
Enjoy your runs the way you like it.
We're all amateurs - but I bet you look ike a real pro! And just think - once you get the bit between your teeth and are doing sub-19 minute times, the 'lite' runners can chew on the idea that they could use tech to help monitor their pace.
Ha ha - this really made me smile - as i am in the same place as you with all my bits and bobs- ipod with all the right podcasts, heart monitor and garmin - so i can really see how slow I am running. But nonetheless - it still pleasing to have all the techno stuff and it keeps my babbling brain occupied while i am running.
Be happy and keep running
Haha! I'm definitely with you on this! But these technologic devices help me progress and music helps me not to focus on my heavy breathing - I LOVE THEM!!
Today's record is tomorrow' motivation and all that!
Once I had completed the podcasts I dropped the music as I felt it was helpful to hear my feet land and concentrate on my breathing and slow it down IYSWIM.
I love my garmin though and find it useful for pacing and as a cyclist I love the fact there are running segments on Strava as well to compete on.
