And I have never thought of myself as the competitive type - but - this running thing has officially got the better of me.
For week 9 I have upgraded to Endomondo pro which means I can set the run type to "beat myself" & on W9R1 I thought that's easy, I've an extra 2 mins running anyway so I should be able to beat my last run time... and sure enough I cracked the 5k but only by extending the run to 33:37 which was a 54 second improvement & my fastest ever 5k so far.
Although I never thought about the rest of this week & that I wouldn't have the extra 2 mins to rely on....
So tonight's' run was W9R2 and involved Me, Laura, Endomodo & a burning desire to beat my last run.... can I do more than 33:37? maybe a 33:00?
1k in 6:08... 2k in 6:12 ... 3k in 6:25 ... 4k in 6:07 ....... I knew I was shifting it a bit more than usual but then came the 5k & I had smashed to pieces in 5:26 ....
Then a moment later Laura tells me well done - you have made it ..... what! that was well quicker than 33:00 .... I know it's crass to be so self indulgent but so what I just don't care...
I just did a 5k in 30:17
Tonight this Fat Lad has set the road on fire - Starts in F and ends in UCK - now we need a FiretrUCK (sorry)
Wow well done you that's amazing!! I was SOOO chuffed with myself this week for beating my PB for 5k at 31 mins, and that's with my son yelling 'run faster mummy.. Faster!!' every two mins as he has something on his Garmin that beeps if he goes too slow!
Time for celebrations and I agree with Lynds don't push too much like I did too and I've had to cut my distance back
Hi Matthew W! You never thought you would get this far did you? I've been loving your posts and I am so pleased for your obvious pride and enjoyment of all you have achieved. WELL DONE YOU! Hope you keep the f*****uck busy round your way!
Well done you! That's amazing, you might even beat it for your final run! I was hoping for a pb on my graduation run but running in the pouring rain just didn't do it for me....!
Oh Yeah Oh Yeah Oh Yeah!! You did it MatthewW!! Well done, brilliant work mate! CONGRATS for doing your run so fast! That's my aim too, to do 5K under 30 minutes. Keep up the good work!! All good wishes!
Wow ! Well done ! You've really found your stride now haven't you ! that's an amazing time. One more to go ! what you going to do for your final run ? Look forward to reading your graduation post
Well done! You have worked really hard, and you're really fast!
One possible option is to do the final run without setting a time target - so you know in advance it will be a success and you don't risk ending up injured, as you've pushed it so much already this week.
Then you've got a target sitting ready for you after you graduate, instead of that, 'Well now what?' feeling that so many of us end up with.
Enjoy your grad run anyway, however you decide to run it. Have fun!
