Ok, so I was naughty this morning... I went to parkrun, did my 5 min warm up, stretches and then a .5km very slow jog just before the countdown. I set Laura away and off I went at the back of the crowd.
I found a pace I was comfortable with and could breathe well and didn't worry about anything, I just ran, knowing i could do the 30 mins I needed to and loved it. 30 minutes are up and the finish line was in sight so I broke the rules and just kept going down the path and around the corner for an additional 3mins, no sprint finish or anything just keeping my pace.
First 5km is now in the bag, official time is 33:01 and I am happy with that. I have volunteered for next weeks run as a marshall as i am going for my first night with the local harriers on Thursday and want to give my legs plenty of time to rest following that but at least I know these little legs can get me around the full course.
PS... I know I shouldn't really have added the extra time but I knew at the pace i was going i had it in me and i did plenty of stretches afterwards. I am also going to allow 2 rest days before my graduation run

Well done. We’ll let you off for breaking the rules as you have already got so close to the end, and warmed up well. Well done for volunteering next week too - parkrun can not operate without those great volunteers. Saturdays will never be the same again.
Thank you, I was very close to the back but felt I was going at a comfortable pace and considering how hard I found it to run 60 seconds when I started this in August I am amazed at what I achieved
