Well today I have the day to myself so I decided to walk to the tram station and take the tram all the way to Fleetwood and then run back, I'd measured on a map and it looked like it would just be right for a HM.
Very warm today (hooray summers here, oh no should I still give it a go )
Well All I can say is I'm so glad of the beach showers at 7K where I cooled down and at 14k ish where I bought a fruit shoot drink..mmmmm and OMG the last 3K went on for ever.
But I'm sat here now very pleased and looking forward to a treat....but what....
It really was a long way, made me think that after my HM in August that next challenge will not be further distance, but mixing it up...I had a chocolate granola bar.
Well done Phil, excellent run, very hard work in the heat too. It takes us a while to get used to warmer weather I think. Wow look at all those calories you could be tempted to consume, mmm don't do a Malcy though, twix are not worth it!!
Oh I don't know, quite partial to a Twix, but I think a chunky Kit Kat might be better but as there aren't any in the house (can't eat them then) I may have to purchase one.
Read Malcy's blog from earlier on! (yes I like them too - haven't had a Twix or a Chunky Kit Kat in years). I agree - what's not in the house is harder to eat
Cheers, it was a hard slog at the end though. I was hoping for an under 2 hour HM in August, but now I seriously don't care, will just go with what feels right, it's a long way.
Hiya Phil. What a run. Good for you and a massive well done to you. I am impressed by the distance but also by the regular lap times. Brilliant first go. James
Brilliant run, Phill. What a cracking time for a HM! Great splits there - especially still getting under 6:00 for the last two kms. That's a great pace in this heat. Well done, you!
Hi Phil - just saw your post. Well done mate - having done a "not a half marathon" at the end of 5x50 I know the trepidation and doubt, then the pleasure when you realise that it really is possible. And your time was fantastic too. I used to go to conferences in Blackpool many years ago so can picture you.
From memory, it wouldn't be Twixes that would worry me, it would be the temptation of all those chip shops! You with your HM in August, me with mine in September - we're like a pair of twixes. Oops - I meant we're like a pair of twins. Can't think why Twixes came to mind. Twix. mmmmmmm!
Me too these days. When Andrew was home from Adeleide, the first thing he wanted was a fish supper. I found it disappointing. As you say, the thought was better than the reality. I guess a year of no deep frying - in fact no real frying (I dry fry) - means my tastes have changed. For the better ...
I thought when got I home, could I imagine turning around and running back... and the thought was NO, maybe I need a different challenge next, maybe a triathlon but you never know.
Aching today a little but nothing serious so maybe....NO for now
