I battled a short t-shirt, ejecting earphones, tummy exposure, a sore throat and hail stones this evening, to my amazement i did it....... How long is this motivation going to last and how long will i have a feeling of relief on my non-running nights?

Hopefully a bit longer yet! Well done, that's some serious battling the odds, I'm sure you can do lots more when conditions are more ideal.

Welcome to the forum, we hope to see you often in the weeks ahead. :) Well, of course, we don't know much about you yet ... but we do know about the programme! The hardest part of all ... by a very long way ... Is getting off the couch and getting out there! Well done, indeed, for completing the first week. Be assured that after a day or two rest you will be rested and prepared for week two. :)

The motivation is in you, it is yours alone. Some of us come here to learn to run, to get fit, to lose weight, to rise to a challenge - there are as many motivations as there are participants!

Think your t-shirt was great, exposing a racing tummy is very trendy ;) Look after your throat, lots of drinks, honey and vit C supplements, and see your GP if it gets worse!

Afraid we can't do much about the horrid weather - wasn't it dreadful today - horrible!

Most of all we hope you decide to give week two a go. Honestly, the thoughts do change in favour of running days. If you ever have any probs, or simply want to boast of your successes, do get back here and share with all the other folk who, just like you, have decided that going out for a run was a cracking good idea. Lots of luck for your future runs ;) Cheers, Linda

Ah, the tummy exposure, yes.... I decided to go for a clingy pair of jogger that have a nice and high waist :) Solved that problem, means that the general "wobbling" effect is probably more visible to other people, but at least I don't have my tummy protruding.

Good luck and keep going, Laura has a knack of keeping us motivated :)

well done, I still get excited after I have done each session, I am sure you will too! :)

Excellent blog Linda.

Just keep blogging about your runs, reading other people's blogs and keep going out running, you'll soon be looking forward to the next one. The feeling of achievement is great, and remember there is no such thing as a bad run. :-)

With my first run I battled with the same stuff, earphones kept falling out and tshirt kept riding up. Before my second run, I dug out some over the head earphones and found some cheap high waisted Lycra leggings and I've never looked back! Good luck with your next run, it'll become a habit. :)

Well done on completing your first week.

You're the second person today who has mentioned a sore throat. I'm currently suffering with this too after managing to go all through the long winter without a slight sniff or cough or hint of a cold. After starting yesterday It didn't feel any worse when I did my run this morning, but has gradually got worse all day.

Congratulations on completing week 1; for a new runner, it IS tough.

As the weather improves (it's got to, hasn't it?) you will suddenly find that the pain of running gives way to an appreciation of the birds singing, the blue sky or twinkling stars, the trees gently swaying in the cooling breeze and you will be in your own running world, and not the world of discomfort of old.

Stick at it, and it WILL happen.

You have chosen to best time of year to start the programme; so stick at it, and good luck for W2.

In the weeks ahead there will be many downs - lead legs, voices in your head saying you can't do this and aches & pains. But believe me, there will be way more ups. And this wonderful forum is a great support network - we'll pull you through the downs and give you a high five and cheer "yay, way to go" in celebration of your highs. C25k has the potential to gradually change your life forever - keep the faith, listen to Laura and take it one session at a time.

YOU DID IT! Well done you. The hardest part (getting off the couch and out there) is behind you now. You will soon start to feel very pleased with yourself and that will spur you on. Keep coming to this blog page and you will pick up all sorts of tips to help you. I couldn't have done it without the support from this BRILLIANT site! The best advice I found was start slow and steady. If you crash on into it you can tire yourself out at the start of the session and that will make you have a 'bad' run and you may feel disappointed. Congratulations on getting out there, WELL DONE!

Thank you soooo much for the encouragement. I have never blogged before and am absolutely amazed by your comments. I don't have any friends to run with but feel I have you all with me. Once again thank you.
