Doing my first 10 k race on Sunday but not sure if I should ease up on running beforehand?
I did the speed podcast on Tuesday and would normally go out tonight but I am also doing the 5X50 challenge so i don't want to overdo it and wreck myself for my Sunday finale.

If I were doing a 10k on Sunday, I'd probably be doing a lot of yoga for the next few days. Or cycling or swimming. But you may be much tougher than me!
I don't think you need much tapering before a 10K race. I did my usual fast intervals session on the Monday, then a 40min tempo run on Wednesday and instead of my usual long, slow run on Friday I did an 'Easy 5' ie a slow 5 km. I also did a short cycle on Saturday ahead of the 10K race on Sunday.
I just reduced my training a little before a 10k. Maybe take an extra rest day or do slower/shorter runs than you would otherwise. It all depends on how you feel - if you are doing 5x50 as well then it may be a good idea to just ease off for a few days to make sure there is plenty of energy in the tank for the race.
Personally I wouldn't do any training for at least one if not two or three days before the race but that's just me...
Thanks everybody. I did a nice easy 5k tonight and really enjoyed it. I'll stick to the bike for Friday and Sat so hopefully OK for Sunday. Gives me a chance to vol at Parkrun
