This morning was my last run before my first ever 10k race on sunday. Since graduating, I havent followed a specific plan, just increased one of my three runs a week by 5mins each week, been doing an audiofuel interval pyramid and the 5k+ stamina podcast. My main goal is to finish but would be really happy if I could finish running all the way. Im really nervous as Ive never done a "proper" race before and have no idea what to expect. Ive done a few park runs and have found them very friendly and enjoyable so am hoping for something similar. My wife and daughter are coming to cheer me on so that should help.
Oh well, four months ago I couldnt run hardly at all so I suppose a little walking wouldnt be the end of the world. Wish me luck!!

good luck. I'm going to attempt a 10K solo run this weekend, (so far 8.2 K is my furthest distance). I'm not brave enough to race yet. Let us know how you get on.
Good luck! I am sure you'll enjoy it! When I look back to last Sunday and my first 10k I can honestly sat it was fab (maybe didn't feel it on the way round) but the atmosphere and marshals will get you through . Let us know how you get on
