First ever blog!

So, I'm currently up to week 5, 1st run. Although I have been following the podcast for a lot longer than 5 weeks. I've been taking my time and not moving on to the next weeks run until I feel comfortable in the one I'm on. Anyone else do this? Its certainly helped me, whether its sub-conciously or not I'm not sure...but it works for me.

I'm pretty darn chuffed with myself though, never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I could run for five minutes without stopping. I'm almost looking forward to the next run (8mins) but very very nervous about the one after that (20 minutes!!!!)

I'm a graduate of about 3 weeks now and believe me I was the last person I ever thought would be loving running. Don't worry about the twenty minutes the thought off it is far worse than the doing. You will do it, good luck :)

It took me 50 runs to graduate, not 27, but I did it! I repeated runs until I felt 'comfortable' with them (comfortable not meaning easy, but that I could do them). You'll get there - keep going and let us know how you get on :)

To take your time is definitely a good idea, I would say 9 weeks is a very short space of time for your body to adjust and get used to running, so don't worry about repeating lots of the runs. Slow and steady wins the day! Good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks for everyones comments. I'm definitely taking my time with it all, and yes doing each run till it feels comfortable. But not easy (I dont know that it will ever feel easy lol)

Will keep going, hopefully in better weather. My goal is the race for life this July. I've taken part in the last two years, first time round it took me 52 mins and last year 41 minutes. But, I had done no training at all outside, and had only ran on a treadmill at the gym. Totally different eh?! I really hope to be able to do this years race for life without needing to walk :-/ ....we'll see! :-)
