This is a product that is for snoring. It operates by directing your breathing to nose breathing which we all know is the desired direction that benefits COPD also. I think by using it during daytime (as well as night time) activities would be beneficial to emphysema sufferers such as myself. I read one testimonial of a person who did just that. I intend to follow in her footsteps and see if I realize some benefit as well.
I Have No Interest In This Product Other Than... - COPD Friends
I Have No Interest In This Product Other Than It Makes Sense To Me.
I breathe through my nose when awake. My problem is when I am asleep, I tend to breathe through my mouth, especially when my sinuses are acting up (which happens a lot) and yes I sometimes snore. I also have sleep apnea, but can't wear a cpap.
It looks like this thing goes in the nose, I would be interested to know if this can be used by someone on oxygen. I was going to email the company and ask them, but they don't give an email address??
KatherineK, if you were diagnosed with sleep apnea, and have a CPAP, you should be wearing your CPAP, there are so very many masks, and just nasal masks these days, it's just getting use to it. If you truly can't breath with your CPAP, work with whomever prescribed it for you. Sleep apnea is so much more dangerous that people think it is...you would also feel better. Apnea affects so many things. It makes your oxygen lower, harms your heart, and can cause death.
When I was first diagnosed with sleep apnea, my pulmonologist said I had a choice. I could use oxygen overnight, or a cpap machine. He recommended the cpap, so that's what I did. I was fine on it until I lost my second lung lobe. Exhailing against the incoming air became difficult. So much so, that I was waking up in the morning with so much air in my abdomen, I was bloated, and I could feel the air moving around. It reminded me of my unborn child trying to kick his way out. My sleep doc even put the settings on 4, the lowest it would go, no luck.
So I went on overnight o2.
Thanks for sharing morehope ! I'm interested to hear from you as to whether you think there's any benefit or not. Since you will be asleep - Is there some way for you to know whether it is working or not?
I would just like to add- if you or anyone here is snoring regularly please be sure to see a sleep specialist or at least talk with your doctor. Sleep Apnea is potentially serious and should be treated by a professional. Also- while this product may not qualify as needing approval I do not see anything on the page showing FDA approval (or MHRA for our UK friends). Again it might not need it, but something to keep in mind.
To be clear -I'm not trying to be discouraging but want to be sure that if someone has sleep apnea it is taken seriously. COPD Friends is definitely a place to share ideas and what works for each one of us, but never to take the place of a skilled medical professional's advice.
I don't snore but I know I mouth breath. When I wake up my mouth is as dry as cotton.
You must be sleeping with your mouth open. Persons with hypneonas as well as apnea wake with very dry mouths without CPAP therapy, as you might, I say might have one or the other or both...which makes one actually grasp for oxygen many times a night.
I personally would have a sleep study, (not a home one, they mess up everytime!..lol). You could just save your life and feel awhole lot better!! I do...and the misnomer that little people dont get it....I could be a poster child. P.S. you dont have to snore... either.
Be good...take care...
My pulmonologist and GP said the same thing. It actually helps and makes your lungs stronger.
Take good care and stay well....spring will
soon be here!!
Hi, do you inhale and exhale solely through your nose? Or inhale through nose and exhale through the mouth?
What are the benefits?
Thanks
