LOST WITHOUT BREATHING

WHY AM I LOST WITH HAVING COPD. I WAS DIAGNOSED 10 YEARS AGO BY MY DOCTOR OF HAVING IT, FOLLOW ALL STEPS AND TAKE ALL MEDS TO CURB IT BUT NONTHING HELPS. AFTER 10 MINUTES OF TAKING MEDS IN A NEBULIZER MY BREATHING IS NOT HAPPENING AGAIN. COULD THIS BE SOMETHING ELSE THAT DISGUISED AS COPD? BRAIN INJURY, SINUS PROBLEM??

Hi TOMMYBOY1, it's difficult to know what to say except you need to see your lung specialist about the problems you're having. I am sorry you're feeling so poorly 😡 I have emphysema so I understand how awful it is when you can't breathe.

PS: Maybe a bit more information would help. You don't smoke, do you? Maybe your Dr could prescribe pulmonary rehabilitation. Do you suffer from allergies?

THANK YOU FOR YOUR REPLY. I AM NOT NEW TO THIS PROBLEM.

I HAVE BEEN IN THE SAME GENERAL STATUS WITH IT FOR 10 YEARS.

I HAVE TRIED ALL THE MEDS, INHALERS. AND REHABS BUT CAN'T

FIND A RELIEF. I WAS WONDERING IF IT COULD BE A BRAIN RE-

LATED PROBLEM THAT MAKES ME THIS WAY. IT SEEMS TO BE AT

THE WORST WHEN I GET EXCITED, GET IN A HURRY, DO THINGS I

AM NOT USED TO, (ETC.) ALLERGIES IS ANOTHER PROBLEM I

THOUGHT OF. MENTIONED IT TO A FEW DOCTORS BUT IT WENT

IN THE WIND AND NEVER LOOKED INTO. THANKS AGAIN.

There is a possibility of anxiety contributing to your problems. Chances are there's going to be more than one solution. Did you go see an allergist and get tested? Do you have emphysema or bronchitis? Have you posted in any other forums?

you're very welcome, Tom. I just wish I could be more useful.

I happen to think: Have you ever seen a cardiologist?

I HAVEN'T BEEN TO AN ALLERGIST YET, BUT I DO PLAN ON GOING AS SOON AS I GET MY LIFE BACK ON TRACK. THIS HAS BEEN A BAD YEAR FOR ME. IT STARTED IN JANUARY WITH A BRAIN ANEURYSM AND MY LIVE WITH GIRLFRIEND BECAME VERY ILL IN MARCH, THEN PASSED AWAY IN APRIL FROM CANCER. I HAD TO MOVE TO A NEW PLACE TO LIVE AND MOVING TOOK A LOT OUT OF ME. I HAVE BEEN TO MANY DOCTORS AND HOSPITAL STAYS BUT HAVE NOT GOT NOWHERE WITH ANSWERS. I STARTED WITH A NEW PULMONARY DOC LAST WEEK AND MAYBE HE WILL HELP AND LISTEN TO ME. MY PRIMARY DOC IS A CARDIOLOGIST AND SAYS MY HEART IS IN GOOD SHAPE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONCERN.

Because it is a no cure disease and it is progressive unfortunitly we with COPD and other issues have no resorces to cure , anything just make it alittle better. U didn't mention oxygen use it may help u ask your Dr. To test u ,

I AM ON 2.5 LTRS OF OXYGEN 24/7. MAYBE IT HELPS, BUT I DON'T SEE WHERE IT HAS. THERE ARE VERY FEW PULMONARY SPECIALISTS IN THE AREA I LIVE. I DON'T DRIVE SO IT SOMETIMES IS HARD TO GO FAR FOR A GOOD ONE.

HI Tommyboy, yes it could be that you are in a flare up and need different meds and antibotics. It could also be that you have Pulmonary Hypertension or it may be your heart, it all goes together. Call your doctor ASAP and let them know what is happening.

Keep us posted on how your doing.

DIFFERENT DOCS BUT NONE HAVE A CLUE. I, MYSELF HAVE AN IDEA THAT IT MAY BE RELATED TO MY BRAIN. SOMETIMES I FEEL FTNE AND TIMES WHEN I GET MAD OR UPSET ABOUT SOMETHING, I CAN'T CATCH A BREATH. AFTER I SIT AND CALM DOWN, I FEEL FINE

are you exercising? eating right? drinking lots of water? it all matters as well as keeping a positive attitude. when i was diagnosed a decade ago i thought it was all over for me. couldnt even walk without haveing to stop and catch my breath. I moved to sea level and started pulmonay reahab. Saved my life. Get busy breathing or not breathing at all.

@valeriejean, why did you move to sea level? How did that help? Isn't the humidity high at sea level? I apologize for all the questions, but I am curious! Thanks so much,

hi bonita....I was living at 4,200 ft elevation when I could no longer catch my breath. The pulmonary doc there told me if I wanted to have any quality of life I must move to sea level and do pulmonary rehab. Best advise I ever had. Humidity in swimming pool does bother me but here on the Oregon Coast I dont' feel it. Maybe in a warmer climate it would because heat does affect it. Something about the air moving across the lungs. Sorry my memory is poor. Been on oxygen over ten yrs now. On another note. I was in Portland for a week dealing w/ a death in the family. It was only 60 ft elev but the air from the cars or what not more than doubled my oxygen consumption. I was downtown and my oxy was 5 cl and i still dropped down to a 76 sat level. I got the heck out of there. DO YOUR PULMONARY REHAB it's a drag if you are not used to exercise but it has made it so can walk around. good luck! no problems shoot a question any time..:)
