Happy to have found this site my chest X-ray shows enlarged lungs but my spiro test came back normal I am going to have a CT scan and I am so worried that this condition is going to classed as severe COPD does a mild case of Copd show up on X-ray or only severe case and why am I not breathless so many questions So can a chest X-ray only show severe case ?? My doctor says I may only have a mild case is he lying to me when my lungs are enlarged but clear and no legions found

Dr doesn't generally lie you are probably in early stages

Why not? I am sure many health professonals have asthma or something else wrong with them. If you are severe then that could be a different story but I shouldn't think you are. A few footballers and other athletes have asthma too.

Don't forget if you have an attack you can still breathe through your nose. This sounds obvious but I never thought of it when I woke with an asthma attack.

I too have suffered coughing attacks but have found that mine were caused by trying to breath through my mouth whilst chewing, causing small particles of food to enter my oesophagus, the coughing was the natural reaction to clearing said partial. I now try to avoid the situation by being more aware of my breathing whilst eating and not eat foods that flake such as pastry. Hope this helps.

If you are not experiencing breathlessness, you are most likely in the very early stages. Begin doing breathing exercises such as blowing up balloons, deep breathing using your diaphragm correctly, pursed lip breathing, etc. It's very important to get the trapped air out. Try to walk at least 30 straight minutes each day in order to force your breathing into a deep breathing pattern. I'm post lung transplant (6 months out). The above suggestions enabled me to get five extra years from my own lungs and are now helping me to recover from surgery. Be proactive with your care! Don't ignore your doctor's orders and treatments hoping the nightmare will just go away.

I have an Apple Watch and it tells me when to do breathing exercises thank you for your info I didn't know that air got trapped I also have a free standing indoor exercise bike doing 15 minutes a day on that with small weights I use as well I also use an inversion table for 5 minutes and do sit-ups from hanging upside down and I also walk with my dogs taking Q10 vitamin along with a Swiss vitamin called lung support I also have a Dyson clean air filter and it is wonderful for letting me know how clean my surroundings are but most of all I am terrified and devastated as I am a complete health nut and read every label as I have done for years but smoking was my downfall and managed to kick it to the curb 6 years ago thank you once again for the info about the importance of breathing and in my job I usually walk about 12 kilometers per shit so my Apple Watch tells me thank you I will practice what you said more often

I would feel confident in telling you that your COPD would not be classed as severe based purely on your post . You would clearly feel the effects with fatigue and shortness of breath upon exertion or exercise. The C in COPD does stand for chronic but don't let this alarm you. I would encourage you to do all you can to slow down and indeed improve the condition by looking after all aspects of your health with regards to diet, exercise, avoiding alcohol and to quit if you're a smoker. I myself suffer extreme fatigue upon the slightest exertion and am classed borderline stage 2/3 of the four stages. Try to eat small meals or snacks 4 or 5 times a day rather that eat large meals 3 times a day,as this causes the stomach to swell and restricts chest cavity area and makes it more difficult to breath fully. Also be rigid in taking all meds regularly as prescribed. You'll be fine.
