With my Inogen 1 oxygen concentrator set for 5 lpm, I can walk up to a half mile without taking a 10 minute break. I have a special backpack for it and do a little gardening with it set on 5 lpm also, but I work for 5 minutes and break for 5 minutes. What little I am able to accomplish gives my morale a great boost. How much are you able to do around the house?

i live alone, have prostate cancer, and have a pacemaker due to heart problems so i don't get a lot done around the house and it is a mess. my oxygen is set at 4.5 when i am out and about i carry a tank. would like to find our about your portable concentrator

inogen.com is their website. It weighs barely over 6 pounds and comes with a shoulder strap case much like a woman's purse. They also sell a backpack made especially for it (pricey at $100) but I need it for working out in the yard. I have had mine 5 months and like it so much I would do commercials for the company if they asked. Medicare and most insurance companies will pay for rental fees with a minimum copay, but I chose to purchase ($3,500). I carry at all times the little Walgreen Drug Oximeter and when I first got the concentrator, I carried a little notebook to monitor what settings and how often I needed to take breaks. I am able to walk my two dogs (5 lpm) or one dog (4 lpm). I drive with the Inogen behind my feet and sit on the shoulder strap to secure it from falling over, and I set it at 3 for driving. It comes with a battery charger, a travel cord to operate it in your vehicle, a special cord that runs it on AC in the house and charges the battery at the same time. Traveling by air requires a letter from the doctor stating you need the concentrator and then you cannot sit at exit seats or in front of the bulkhead.

Does it work only in demand?

My husband needs continuous also what leters

LPM is liters per minute, and the Inogen line is only "on demand," and it delivers from 1 to 5 liters per minute. But if you check Amazon with a search of "oxygen concentrators" in quotation marks, you will see other portables about the same size, and some go either way or continuous only. There are quite a few out there now, and one of them should meet his needs. I just spent 4 hours gardening and spreading mulch in the garden with mine, frequent breaks, but a lot accomplished, and that is what keeps my spirits up (being able to do a bit of work now and then).
