Hi,
it may be that the various forms of bariatric surgery will suit you better than others given the stage of your CLL and degree of weight loss wanted. Can your CLL doctor discuss with your bariatric surgeon?
All the best
Jackie
Thank you for your prompt response Jackie. That’s precisely what I’m going to do, get these two specialists talking.
I asked the question on the forum because with a stomach post-op that would be about a quarter of the size of the original one, I’m wondering if the Ibrutinib pills would be absorbed adequately and therefore allowed to produce their potency, as they are now pre-op.
Anyway, many thanks.
From what i read bariatric surgery is a very dangerous operation even for those more or less healthy. Is the reason you are considering it only weight loss?
when I was on Ibrutinib and Venetoclax (Study) they usually had me stop the Ibrutinib for a 7 days before a procedure. Colonoscopy & endoscopy different times, so on two occasions. The concern is with bleeding.
My mother in law had bariatric surgery last month and was told she could not swallow any pill larger than a dime. I’m on Imbruvica and it’s definitely larger than that. I’m not sure if there is an alternative but definitely ask your surgeon and oncologist.
