Just went to the oncologist today blood work is good white blood cells are down to 45,000 bloodwork looks good this pill is

I developed two different types of pneumonia in both lungs and was rather sick....since my immune system is very compromised they wanted to keep me out of the hospital if at all possible so they pulled me off the Imbruvica so my body was not dealing with so much. Well, all my numbers continued to improve and when I was well and could have gone back on the Imbruvica they concluded that I really didn’t need them and that we would wait until the some or one of the numbers they watch moves upward but not until that happens and they pulled me July 12, 2019. So I am now on Watch, Wait and Worry. I was not on a clinical trial. In the 31 years I have never followed the norm in any thing they did for me but I always have managed to come out ahead....so here I am.

You have had WM for 31 years ? I also was on Imbruvica but they took me off over 3 years ago when I wasn't getting better from an infection. My IGM stayed under 1,000 up until 6 months ago. It's been a nice break but I think it will be coming to an end. Not sure what they will put me on.

I want to clear something up that I may have misrepresented my history. I truly can’t remember how long I was on watch and Wait and Worry as that was so long ago. Upon my diagnosis I was asked just how aggressive I wanted to treat my CLL and of course at age 47 I want to hit it hard as we had three teenagers. They sent me to Layola of Chicago where at that time were on the cutting edge of Bone Marrow Transplantation. It was decided that it would not be the way to attack my CLL and thus was sent back to my original doctor and I was put on Leukeran. At that time Leukeran was the only oral treatment for CLL. Thus I was on Leukeran only as needed to keep my numbers where they wanted them to be and that went on for 17 years.

Then they decided with the new oral treatments available they put me on Imbruvica for 6 months and pulled right away when I developed two types of pneumonia and that was considered a serious side effect. I had nearly 3 years of Watch and Wait and Worry and then they put me on Calquence where I have been for 3 years. I am doing super great!!!

The 17 years of on and off Leukeran took a big hit on my immune system and over the years it began to let me down and thus I began receiving IVIG every 4 weeks…that is where I am now 6 years later!! The IVIG keeps me in a very safe place.

If you have any questions I will try to respond. I am working on 35 years and couldn’t be better!!
