Tetanus shot?? Any interactions with Imbruvica?

My husband got a tetanus shot because he was cut with something rusty and hadn't had one in at least 10 years.

I haven't had one either, but if I do get cut, or otherwise need one, am I able to get it without a reaction because of CLL or Imbruvica????

Googled it but I didn't get any good results.

DawnR, Having CLL and being on imbruvica treatment should not interfere with getting a tetanus shot, because in the US, live cellular tetanus vaccines are no longer permitted. IE, the vaccine will not be harmful. However, having CLL and being on imbruvica may well dampen your response to vaccination.

Because you are immunocompromised, if you get a deep wound, your doctor may well recommend an injection of Tetanus Immune Globulin along with a Tetanus shot.

I keep current with my tetanus boosters and my having CLL plus being very active outside as a geologist makes it doubly important. I have had no reactions to the booster other than a very sore arm for a day. Agree with gardening-girl.
