Lymph nodes

My husband was diagnosed with CLL 5 year's ago and been in remission for nearly 4 years, but since Covid started only been able to have phone calls with his oncologist, and he's on ibruvinib and still been having chemo check ups every 3 months. Following a medical review, because he's also has high blood pressure found a high level of PSA in his blood test, and he's had a Bone scan and MRI scan which showed up an abnormal gland in his prostate, and he's got to have a biopsy. So it's just a matter of waiting again like when he first got diagnosed 5 year's ago with CLL.

Hi BayfieldAnnette,

-

We all are so sorry to hear of your husband's challenges, and hope the doctors can deal with them. It sounds like he is getting good attention to his problems, which may be fortunate after reading about some other NHS experiences elsewhere in the UK.

-

If his blood pressure can be controlled with the usual drugs, that is great. If not, then the doctors may want to switch him to Calquence / Acalabrutinib or Venclexta / Venetoclax.

-

Hopefully the biopsy reveals a benign or slow growing prostate version, which may not need treatment ever or for a very long time.

-

Your husband is very lucky to have you a caring involved partner. We wish you both all the best outcomes.

Hope all goes well and as lankisterguy mentions hopefully diagnosis of the prostate shows a benign result. Otherwise, will keep you and husband in prayer.

Well I can tell you that Venclexta raised my blood pressure 25 pts and now I am on BP meds. It seems like we have always have a give and take. Good luck to you and yours.

Do you know how high is the PSA number? Will they do an MRI guided biopsy specifically targeting the affected region?

He said his PSA was in the 70's, and he's having his biopsy by ultra sound.

That's quite high. Good they are aware of the problem and taking care of it. Best of luck with the biopsy and treatment!

Hello. I’ve just seen your message in the Prostate Cancer forum.I too have a husband with CLL and he was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer too.

I’m happy to answer any questions you may have, if I can, or just be supportive…I don’t have medical training 😉

Thank you just keeping fingers crossed for when his results come back. His brother-in-law went through this 2 year's ago and his biopsy was ok, and he just has check up's every 6 months. We are still InTouch with the Lymphoma support group.
