I'm constantly dipping into this forum but sometimes it feels hard to read stories of people newly diagnosed with CLL...it makes the trauma that we've been through come flooding back...
3 years ago this week I started FCR and it is this weekend that my son Dan takes part in an Iron Man (Bolton). He has nearly raised his target of £1000.im sharing because he's doing this for all of us ....all of us who wake up each morning living with this illness..
If you can support, please do X thanks fellow cllers x
Check out my JustGiving Page for CLLSA. Help me raise more!
Tell your son good luck and thank you so much for dedicating this to all of us! I am about a year and a half post FCR. Are you having a good remission? So far so good for me...
Chris I feel good - pretty normal really . I'm on no medication and energy levels are pretty ok too. Very grateful! Praying for a huge long remission! For you x
Fantastic Bethan and you must be very proud of him! 😊
Are you happy to leave the post unlocked?
I tried to convert to a hyper-link so people could click on the link but it’s not allowing me to do it. Right I’ve got it! You’d missed the colon after the http 😊
What a great effort from your son! I've just made a small donation and left a short message of support for the race and thanks for the fundraising!
Any Ironman race is tough, but IMUK is especially tough - my husband has completed it several times! The bike course has been changed this year too...it's hard!
We live in Bolton, and the new bike course comes very close to home. We'll be at the swim start (at stupid o'clock in the morning!), then head back home to catch the bike leg, before going into the town centre to cheer on the run!
Do you know your son's race number yet? I'd love to watch out for him and give him a special cheer🙂
Also, just let me know if we can help with any IM info!
If I can work out how to do it, I'll send you a message with my mobile number. We can try to catch up in the town centre, i.e. on the run leg. The Ironman finishes in the town centre, so I'm sure you'd be heading there to cheer your son over the line!
So very kind of your son to take this on! Hope it's a wonderful experience for him, and that all is well with you at 3 years out from FCR. I finished last fall and am feeling great, so love to all who are in treatment or about to start or feeling fearful about what's ahead. Prayers and love for us all.
