GP cholesterol results.

Hi folks,

So I have just had my cholesterol test done by my GP with the following results.

HDL - 1.5

LDL - 6.8

TRIGLYCERIDES - 1.7

Total 8.3 risk factor 26%

They want to start me on Statins asap.

I am keen to avoid drugs and believe that some of the increased numbers above could actually be good cholesterol aka the eggs?

I have been on a carnivore diet the last 3 months which includes at least 4 eggs per day.

Could someone please advise?

Kind regards

I would say that 4 eggs a day is far too much, one is sufficient as they do contain quite a lot of cholesterol as does meat, so cut back on meat and eggs and include more vegetables, fruit and nuts. Benecol drinks can help to reduce cholesterol.

How to reduce LDL?

Hello,

UK guide liners are:

Guide to healthy levels for different types of cholesterol Result Healthy level

Total cholesterol Below 5mmol/L

HDL (good cholesterol) Above 1.0mmol/L for men or above 1.2mmol/L for women

Non-HDL (bad cholesterol) Below 4mmol/L

LDL Below 3 mmom/L

The question is how to reduce LDL to fit in with UK levels.?

Some GP's now look at non-HDL, in your case 6.8,

Rick factor 26 people in 100 people at 63, a man made calculation.

Your blood test is it fasting or non fasting?

All the best in reducing LDL, take care.

If food and drinks do not work consider low dose of statin.?
