Hi Ginny,

Where are you based/travelling too?

I've just come back from Croatia and got my insurance through the money supermarket comparison website. The company that insured me was cloudcover. They were by far the cheapest. Cost was £55 for the week.

I tried the go compare site too, but no results came back via that route. I also couldn't get annual cover anywhere, just single trip cover. So I can see how you may be having difficulties.

There are various specialist insurers about too, but I didn't try those. They may be a good option if you are struggling. I don't have the details to hand but from other similar posts I've seen I'm sure others will have.

Try World First, they have always been good for me.

I usually prefer to talk to a person, as the 'option - click' websites don't always fit my odd relation with PBC. Also, be sure to tell them everything about the PBC, and about all other illness. They may not be the cheapest (I don't understand why that it often the first concern for most people, as I want to know I'm getting good, full, cover and care), but they are thorough and accurate, while their medical database was very good.

In the past I've spoken to other companies where the advisor cannot say Primary Biliary Cirrhosis (as it was then) and also who reacted to the 'cirrhosis' part as if it only had one meaning/cause. The 'World First' operators and their databases have not been like that, and (in the past, for me) have always been up-to-date.

Nb If you say PBC to a company and they still say 'Primary Biliary Cirrhosis' give them a telling off, report them to the Ombudsman, and 'don't' have your cover with them!

Hope this helps.

I just applied for myself stating I had an uncomplicated liver transplant two years ago and wanted a two week stay in Tenerife.

The quotes ranged from £64 to £366
