hi , I’ve booked to have a jab privately as I wasn’t having any luck requesting it from the gp. Is this definitely safe for me to have with liver disease. Thanks

Normally it's positively encouraged in those with liver disease - hubby has certainly had the jab.

Yes absolutely, I had my pneumonia jab around 2 yrs ago now as they recommend you have one every 5 years , I have most vaccinations if offered to me from GP

My GP was under the impression that the pneumonia jab had lifetime immunity. It was only after I had read on here that a booster is required after 5 years and mentioned this fact to the liver nurse at my appointment, that after twice stating my GP Surgery had refused to give me another. She included the request on the letter to my GP, and they agreed to administer another. Sometimes the GPs are not aware of what their patients require.

I was advised to get my Pneumonia Jab from my GP a couple of years ago. I also get my Covid and Flu jabs when required as I'm more at risk of catching Infections with my Liver Disease.

Hi, I was diagnosed January 2023. I was contacted early September by my GPs reception to book in to have pneumonia, flu and Covid jabs, doing them a couple weeks apart. It is a shame that you are going to get the pneumonia jab privately when it should be done by your own GPs surgery.

Thank you yes I know buts it’s been an uphill battle to even get my Covid and flu done. I’m just going to pay the £65 and at least it’s peace of mind x
