I’m pleased to report that I saw my hepatologist this past week (haven’t seen her in well over a year) and she told me that all of my bloodwork looks excellent. She didn’t bring up my slightly low platelets, and neither did I. She was agreeable to doing a fibroscan.
I’m overjoyed to report that my results were 8.8 kPA. CAP 166. 😁 12% IQR It states that there is a 91% chance of F0-F2. It says there is <1% chance of cirrhosis!! 😁😃
So, I will celebrate this news and keep on keeping on! I just want to bring some encouragement and inspiration to those of you who are giving it your all, with an uncertainty that you will eventually see results.
Keep believing and aim for the top!

It has been showing normal echogenicity. Smooth (or sometimes nodular?) contour. But coarse echotexture. Everything else normal. Spleen 10.5 cm. No gallstones or anything unusual.
It does say cirrhosis, but I question if that isn’t just because it is a cancer screening for per se cirrhosis. ? The last US was not a vascular one, so there was minimal information.
They are subjective, so I don’t have a lot of confidence in it. The main purpose was to detect potential lesions. I don’t have any.
I guess I will keep on with bloodwork and ultrasounds as a preventative measure for cancer, since even w/o cirrhosis I may still be at higher risk.
From what I have been told by my specialist, a coarse or bumpy echo texture can be seen in earlier fibrosis and is not in and of itself indicative of cirrhosis. There would often be other indications if cirrhosis. The fibroscan shows to the level of fibrosis. Fibrosis short of cirrhosis is reversible in many cases and it sounds like yours is doing that. Well done!
Thank you so much Sunnyskies (love your most appropriate name 😁)!
I kind of figured that some coarseness could be seen in earlier stages However, I have not seen radiology use descriptive words or numbers that capture the level or extent of the coarseness.
The written interpretation with the fibroscan from the hepatology department is that it is F0-F2.
I am waiting to see if my hepatologist comments to me directly.
I’m so proud of myself for my determination! 😁 it’s been a long haul, but it is so worth it!
