Hepatic encephalopathy is a build up of toxins in the blood stream and taken to the brain. I can't think there would be any risk that the flu jag would have any influence on this at all. Everyone with liver disease is encouraged to get the annual flu jag as you are at higher risk and might have difficulty fighting off the flu if you got it. My hubby and I have had it every year since his diagnosis in 2012 with no negative effects.

If you are in the UK you will receive an non-live version of the vaccine, in other countries and for children they get a live vaccine which wouldn't be suitable for someone with liver issues.

For a very good reason, both pre and post transplant I had an automatic invitation from my GP surgery to have the vaccination.

When you go for the injection you will be asked a series of questions to check that its right for you.

So the answer is a definite yes.

I think getting the flu would be far more dangerous you should try to avoid any infection it can make your liver disease worse. It is highly unlikely that it will trigger your encephalopathy.

you should have had it by now felines put you should still get it

if you are in the uk and are at risk HE it should be free at your doctors surgery

Hi,

According to my hubby's liver doctor both the flu and pneumonia shots are good ideas for those with cirrohsis. I am unsure about pancrieatitis. Probably best to ask your doctor.
