My GP surgery has a shortage of the flu vaccination, so in their wisdom they have decided to restrict the vaccine to over 60 year olds. Doesn't matter if you are 59 and at high risk, you don't get it. But if you are 60 and LOW RISK you will get it.
Doesn't make sense other than it's just easier for them to categorise. Just plain lazy.

I was told that they have loads of the 65+ vaccine but there’s a national shortage of the 18-64 one although they should have some in a few weeks. So maybe they’re giving the over 60s the 65+ one for now. I didn’t even know there were two different ones!
Hi CJAM,
If you have chronic liver disease then you are entitled to have the flu jab on the NHS. You may want to discuss with the GP practice manager about this, and what they intend to do about patients who have chronic health conditions?
There are different flu vaccines, so we would suggest that you fully inform the GP/ practice nurse/ pharmacist of any diagnosis that you have and any medications that you are on so they will be sure to give you the appropriate vaccine.
Ok, thanks. Its difficult to get any further than the recepionist though.
I did not know that there are different types of flu vaccination and no doubt in the past they have been giving me the standard type. It does seem to be that Liver cirrhosis is poorly understood by both nurses and doctors at my GP practice.
