High ggt

Hi I’m new here.

I had an acute cholecystitis infection in my gallbladder and my common bile duct was blocked with a very large gallstone. Both had to be removed laparotomy but now almost 7 weeks post surgery. My liver function test was taken at 4.5 weeks and was given news that my GGT levels are very high. Almost double what they should be. Do I presume the antibiotics and pain meds has caused this to happen.

My gp has requested me to get liver function test done again in two months time.

Does anybody else on here know how long the liver takes to get back to normal size. I don’t drink or smoke so was healthy prior to having an acute gallbladder infection going on.

Hi Savat and welcome to the forum - your liver enzymes can be inflammed for various reasons including an acute infection or more chronic disease. I'm glad that your GP is monitoring you - I'll attach a link to liver blood tests explained which may be helpful to you.
