Husky voice diagnosed!!

Hi to my friends!!

As most of you know I have numerous medical conditions ongoing and one being the development of a husky voice which kicked in after having a temperature of 105 for 4 days back in Jan which then led to chest infection, chest x rays, Covid tests, trillions of antibiotics including a camera up my nose and down my throat by and ENT consultant!

Well two days ago I received a call from the hospital asking if I was free to take an online video call from my speech therapy consultant which happened that afternoon.

After going through my full medical history, symptoms and meds I was diagnosed as having Esophagitis which has come from my earlier Esophagus flare up last November!

As some of you know I adore cooking spicy hot foods ..πŸ₯΅πŸ₯΅ well I've been advised to cut these out plus all citric fruits and drinks πŸ˜ͺπŸ˜ͺ. I'm also to start a course of speech physi therapy on the 18th of November!

Can I ask, does anyone else suffer with this condition and still eat spicy foods now and then?

I do take 2 Omeprazole daily which does help the discomfort but I cannot help loving my hot healthy curries and chilli!

Happy Halloween everyone !

Love Trish xxx

I think its a no brainer Trish. You've had your diagnosis and been told what will aggravate your condition and to avoid those certain foods. So if you dont want continual flare ups ... do as you have been advised by the docs and avoid them. Its like being told you have alcoholic liver disease and being told not to drink alcohol, then asking but is it ok to still have a few? No it isn't ok if you don't want to get worse ! But it's your body, your choice .

Have a good weekend

Thank you Laura for speaking your mind and being a good forum friend these past few years to me and others.

Your words are correct and you could say I have an addiction to tasty spicy foods which I know must be addressed!

As today's the 1st of November, I shall start this month off by dragging a pile of my recipe books from the kitchen shelves and source new idea's to entice my taste buds which won't harm my Esophagus πŸ€”

In the meantime please keep safe and this also goes out to everyone reading this message including you Lynne!!

Not really Laura other than to cut down/out coffee or tea which I don't drink anyway due to being allergic!

However I normally drink my hot drinks lukewarm but thanks for the advice! πŸ‘

Hi

Yes, I think Laura is right!! I know it's bound to get you down sometimes as like me you have been having one thing after another!! I take esomeprazole for stomach issues and have found they work better than omeprazole. When I feel down I give myself a talking to and date there are plenty of people who are worse off than me and I try to keep smiling 😊 which I know you are good at too. Thank you for your continued support, Trish. It means so much to me. All my love Lynne xxxx β€οΈπŸ€—πŸŒˆπŸŒΉ
